Wednesday, December 8 - a day in the life of AJS

A day in the life of Alyssa on her 12th Birthday

Troy woke up his special little girl
We sat on her bed and she read Papa and Nana's card
Today, we only gave her a glass blown necklace that she eyed months ago at Pike Place Market.
I think it is more special when only 1 gift is received.
It seems to be more cherished.
Don't scoff, look at the list below of the other items she has gained recently.
By lunch time the mailman delivered another card.
Showing off the beautiful and bright grandparent cards!
The money she received from them, helped to purchase her bicycle back in September.

Other gifts she recently received:
season ski pass, skiing Tues/Thurs this week and every week in December, skis, boots, poles, winter wear, cycling gear, swim gear, plane ticket for her next trip, snuggle socks, this from Ikea to hang artwork above her desk, shiny church shoes, lip gloss, new tights, she picked out wall sconses at Home Depot so she could enjoy her new workspace better, recent trip to Great Wolf Lodge,

Basically, I just remind her of anything purchased in the past 3 months and voila, she realizes what a blessed child she really is.
As you can see the list is  TOO long and now I am worried she may begin to feel spoiled!
YEP, that is how I work the system.
She painted this picture for Art Class.
Before her four hours of fun to begin this evening, birthday girls still have to do chores.
Her bishop has signed off her primary booklet (age 8-11), Faith in God.
She will be presented in church on Sunday as a Beehive, which is the group for 12-13 old girls.
The motto of the Young Women is "Stand for Truth and Righteousness".

The Young Women theme is as follows:
We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him.
We will 'stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places' (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:
Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue.
We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

The swim team has a tradtion.
The birthday girl chooses her stroke and distance and races against herself while the team cheers her on!
The birthday kids are expected to bring treats for the team.
Of course, we served tiny bitesize vegan cupcakes.
I baked 80 of them.
Alyssa chats with her dad after swimmming on her way to the locker room.
She rushed off to her first Mutual Activity.
They made bath salts.
The Mia Maids visited the Beehives and welcomed her into YW with this card.
Goodnight little one, may this year be a blessed one for you.
Welcome to Age 12.
