Most of you saw these a month ago on Facebook.
BUT, I just wanted to be sure we added this topic to our online journal here!
To prepare for Alyssa's 12th birthday 12-mile run, she began training.
We thought we would give her 12 weeks to gradually increase to the 12 miles sp she ran all fall.
She blew that goal out of the water.
On October 30th, she was ready, about 6 weeks early than we had planned.
This race was an informal run beginning at the Maple Valley Stake Center.
She ran her first half-marathon in 2:10.
Dad and Daughter - what a team!
Almost to the finish line.
And the ever faithful father slows to cross together.
Finished
Two weeks later on 11/13/10, she ran another half marathon in Bothel.
Her time, 1:58. What a gal!
So, as her birthday approaches tomorrow, we all decided to let the 12 mile run idea go.
Instead, she is skiing today as part of her birthday celebration.
With her season pass and homeschool schedule, she can hit the mountain a few times a week.
We are hoping the next three weeks will get her ready for our Christmas Day family ski trip!
So goodbye to running for now.
Don't worry Mr. Pavement and Mr. Trail, her legs will stay in shape with skiing, biking and swimming.
She will see you again in the spring, when the snow has melted.
