Quotes
"I am being carefull-ing"
"Since I am vegan, do I say, I just cut the 'tofu'?"
"Why are you 'tofu-ing' me up? (buttering)
"Do you need some meat on your bones to stay warm?" "No, I need some tofurkey on these bones."
"You could pass out a squirrel with that fart."
"If we could afford boarding school, would you let me go?"
Lys - 25 lbs of gear
Troy - 43 lbs
Scheris - 34 lbs
Roxy - 12 lbs
19,000 ft elevation changes
28 miles of hiking
When we left Troy weighed his lightest in years, 138lbs. Being vegan has dropped his body fat to 13%. I am happy with my 8lb weight loss too.
First 3.4 miles super hard, steep up hill with TONS of gear.
Mt Defiance view was TOOO amazing with views of Adams, Baker, Rainier, and Glacier
Friday night - temp was still 75 at 6pm
Saturday night, temp didn't drop below 50, so that was a lucky break, except for the rain.
Saw snakes, butterflies, bees, chipmunks, and bluejays
Ate TONS of wild blueberries and huckleberriesBarely saw anyone in the 54 hour trip, except a few ultra marathoners and a ski club in training
Troy got to take his new watch which allowed him to know temp, elevation and altitude
We all brought 2 books to read this time, which was too much weight
We love our rest from 8:15pm to 8am.
Troy stepped in a huge mud puddle on day one but fortunately the weather was good enough to dry it out.
We found a hatchet and a machete on this trip.
We love backpacking because we see less people, don't have to listen to obnoxious drunks nor loud music while camping.
We met the Mormon couple Montegomery's from Issaquah 6th ward, great people.
We learned that Alyssa wants to name her two kids, Luke and Mazie.
