I canned peaches and seedless blackberry jam

About 6 months ago, I figured I would never can in my life, so I gave away all the jars I had. Then guess what? We had an Enrichment taught by Debbie and Cathy and I got the itch to try something new.

So, I asked my handy aunt/cousin to coach me live through the experience. Thank you Family!

I bought the 20# box of free stone peaches at Foleys for $14.95. I laid them out flat in the laundry room for 4 days to ripen up and not be squished in the box.

I bought 12 jars/seals/rings at Fred Meyers for $10. I found out that about 3 peaches (6 halves) fit in a quart jar.

Although a pretty simple process overall, lots of bowls and pots are needed for various steps.

Here is my final outcome.

Oh and canned seedless black berry jam with fresh berries that we picked just minutes before canning them. I even tried the new plastic 'jars' that are sold by Ziplock. Fun.

We are back!

After a 2 month hiatus, we are back! I have missed blogging and found that we didn't take as many photos of our events when we weren't planning a blog post. It was sad and I am glad that we decided to have our online journal again. More soon.

Yesterday Punxatawney Phil said....only 18 weeks to plan Scheris and Troy wedding

Troy proposed to me yesterday on GroundHog’s Day.

We hope to get married on 06/07/08, which is 18 weeks away – of course, details are forming and are subject to change.  Troy, Paxton and Alyssa will move to Maple Valley as soon as school is out in June.
